The Importance of Identifying a Theme

Time is precious and people are more sensitive than ever about giving theirs away. What is one thing you can do that can build excitement, increase attendance, and enhance engagement? Create a strong message that is present throughout your event! This summer, when Maria Lenhart wrote about crafting strong messages on meetingstoday.com, she came to our very own Renee Radabaugh to check in on the planner’s role.  ‘What part should the meeting planner play in determining the message of the meeting? “The first thing you have to do is secure the vision and the goals of the stakeholders,” said Renee Radabaugh, president and managing director of Paragon Events, headquartered in Delray Beach, Fla. “You’ve got to ask lots of questions. They may already know what they want to convey, particularly if they have a strong marketing department. Even so, planners are in a position to help define and refine the theme. Your job is to take that idea and make it stronger.” ‘ After you identify your message promote and reinforce it in order to strengthen the event, and your audience. Make all parts cohesive, use graphics, content and tone to reinforce your message.
